TPC Boston Before/After 1st Hole

On the TPC Boston's first hole it looks Hanse-Faxon-Wagner raised the front bunker (or certainly didn't lower it) to obstruct a clean view of left hole locations. I can already hear the players crying foul! It's not all right in front of you!

The changes to the first hole are primarily visual - even before, you could never see the bottom of the pin on this green unless it was in the front-right.

Is this guy a superintendent or professional photographer? Disregarding the course changes, which appeal greatly to my eye and will I think enhance the players' enjoyment, the contrast of the before and after photos is quite striking. It is plain to see which he prefers.

I wonder why the mound behind the green was kept. It looks manufactured, like a typical Palmer design.

Rumor has it they will be going back in this fall and continue the project. I believe they tried to accomplish they major renovations and will take care of the minor issues this year. Unfortunately, there was a great deal of work and a rather short time period to complete.

In that case I am counting on removal of that mound.
