Castle Stuart Images, Vol. 2

From John Kemp, this is the 8th hole. Again, anyone involved with the course is free to post a description of what kind of hole we're looking at. But considering this was all man made, including the native area/heather, it's pretty impressive.

Why all the mounding especially along the left side of the fairway?

I have to agree. I am assuming that mounding is not natural. Why wouldn't you leave the view open to the water?

Phil,
Heather abounds in the Highlands. From my understanding, much of it was carefully transplanted from places close by within the region. This site was not a dunes environment at the outset and the links character has been created...with painstaking attention to detail!
