With apologies to Dan Jenkins or whoever coined that one, I give you, master Tweeter Ian Poulter taking us on a tour of his closet.

And we wonder why people hate golf...

People hate golf because a professional golfer has all kinds of clothes ?

Yeah - I guess NFL, NBA, and MLB multi-millionaires all wear jeans and t-shirts or off the rack suits ?

Seeing as how Poulter actually is a "fashion icon", I don't think it's so bad. This is what you get in the twitter age...needless fluff in the name of content/marketing. But it's still worthy of some good natured ridicule. I can't help but think of Lewis Grizzard's famous line: "I don't know if I'd a told that one!"

Concerning hating golfers? Lamar Odom's candy video was much worse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-3Pm2Z_RDw

When . . . soon I hope . . . will this Twitter fad end? . . . It could be a harbinger of the
beginning of the end of any type of intelligent human discourse. . . Or, at least, what is left after
Glen Beck cries himself to death on the air.

Wisconsin Reader, I think the twitter fad will begin to fade soon. I have used it to promote my business and get inside info within two different marketplaces, but I've already seen it go from useful and unique content to useless information posted as just an excuse to get a name out there. Lately I check my twitter account less and less and hardly ever post anything.

Firstly, Poulter is not a "fashion icon"--at most, he's a decent pro golfer who spoils himself with an indulgence in his whimsical passion of clothing, style, etc. His mind just has to be full of mush. And to think, he progressed through the video with a straight face and semi-serious demeanor. I have no beef against him, but golly, what a dopey man-chick.

I hear Tiger never wears the same golf shirt twice. Pretty sure I heard Maruyama say the same thing.
Didn't Doug Sanders have a wardrobe like that? All the colored shoes and all.

I'm pretty sure Tiger never wears the same shirt twice because he doesn't have to. Cink said that Nike dictates what they wear at majors; for Tiger it might be what he wears to pick up the paper.

Poulter is, in British, a dandy. Nice enough guy, but his game isn't so good that he won't take some ribbing at his clothes. Even he noted that he won't be wearing his pink and red shoes until he feels he's ready. In other words: win in pink in red shoes and you're flashy; miss the cut and you're a train wreck.

That said, the "customize your own shoe" idea from FootJoy is a neat enough idea. Not that I'm in the market for a lime green shoe, but something other than the traditional black or brown or saddle is a nice change of pace. And I own 5 pairs of shoes now.

I love my purple and black MyJoys (go Cats!), but I don't think I'll ever be described as a fashion icon.

As for Poulter, wake me up when he wins something. . .

With Annika retired and Lorena getting hitched, he is gonna dominate the LPGA. Isn't one of the few advantages to being a guy is that you don't have to act like that?
