CBS Needs To Hire Paul Azinger

I haven't watched a lot of the Presidents Cup today, but what parts I have seen were made infinitely more interesting thanks to Paul Azinger's commentary as well as the positive effect he has on Nick Faldo. Since CBS's ratings are noticeably lower than NBC's, maybe it's time to liven things up? Thoughts?

Azinger is outstanding. I also think Brian Hammonds asks surprisingly good questions. Faldo is okay, but he is definitely better when he plays second fiddle to Zinger, rather than the lead commentator. And I reiterate that Kelly Tilghman should find another line of work.

With three on the tower, that's less to say for Jim Nance as well. . . win, win?

I always thought Azinger and Faldo made a nice combo, I second your motion.

Never never never never NEVER ! The only things he adds are a needle for Faldo (which he probably needs when Tilghman is around) and more 20/20 hindsight - which is pretty much useless. I can see that he hit his tee shot into the bunker and can figure out that he probably didn't intend to hit it there - thanks, Zinger. Though, for once, I thought Azinger had some decent insight about being a team captain.

Dude...

I need me some more Johnny Miller!!!

He is the best...if you don't believe me...just ask him!!!

Yes, please.

Well, given that NBC has a whopping 10 HOURS of coverage on Saturday and another 6 on Sunday, we may be sick of all of them.

Duh... the only thing missing would be Tirico, the best play call man in all games!

I would love to see Azinger added to CBS. And as someone said the added benefit is less Nantz.

Could always use some Strange too

Ardmore Ari, I hope you were being sarcastic in praising Tirico and Strange.

Less Nantz is always a good thing
Hey did you know he roomed with freddie?

I've had no time for Azinger ever since he sided with Crane over Rory, suggesting that Crane should "punch him in the mouth" or somesuch. If you have that pulpit and endorse a guy reading scripture in the fairway, I don't want to hear from you under any circumstance.

hire Zinger?...if it means getting rid of the unbearable Kelly Tilghman, by all means! Elmer Fudd would be an improvement over her...she's terrible.

In my humble opinion Azinger was a good addition to the broadcast and I would like to see more of him. I was especially impressed with his insights about difficult lies in bunker play, such as grip, ball below your feet and angle of attack on an uphill lie should have more weight on your back foot so the ball will run out.
His comments on these difficult lies were made as I recall before Cabreras, Yang and Furyk hit their poor shots.

I like zinger, but don't get to hear them much. When Tilghman is on, the mute button goes on or the off button gets hit and I move on. I sometimes hit the mute and a minute or minute and a half later start to listen in and she is still going on and on. At least I can watch on weekends.

Tilghman and Azinger don't do the same job. Tirico isn't a play by play guy - he is in the host chair.

Tilghman, Nantz, Tirico, and Dan Hicks are hosts - they are SUPPOSED to introduce the action (players, holes, etc), throw it to the guys on the course, or ask questions of the analyst. Over and over, they prove that they should never be allowed to analyze a shot.

Faldo, Miller, Azinger, etc are analysts. Miller and Azinger's idea of "analysis" generally involves telling us what just happened, if a bad shot was a mistake, and how THEY would have done it better.

I say bring Hicks to CBS and drop the rest at the South Pole.

Trap draw, baby! I can't hear it enough!!!

I concur with Ardmore Ari. Always nice to get me a little Strange.

I'd take a Nantz, Tilghman and Miller commentating crew if they'd just play more than 12 rounds a year on an interesting golf course.
