Counting Down: Golf Inc.'s Most Powerful People In Golf

Sorry Wally, Golf Inc. only puts you at #17, a slot behind someone named Joe Munsch from a company called Eagle Golf. But at least you're ahead of Mark King and George O'Grady. But Gary Player at #12? What an assemblage of talent.

I see the CEO of American Golf is as available for photographs as his staff is to improve pace of play at the facilities they "manage".

I really don't want to do this . . . Damn the Internet . . . It simply enables us all to share our knowledge with the world. . . Gary Player at #12 - was this a list of powerful people in horse racing? . . . Faldo down the list that far, who will dare tell him, Azinger? . . . Wally Uihlein way down at #17 - did Bob Vokey retire before designing new grooves for 2010? . . . But, let's guess about next week and #'s 1 through 10. . .

Are the votes already in - before this week's event in Australia? If so, clearly Phil Mickelson is #1. After that, in any order, we should see Ryo Ishikawa; Rory; Rickie 2.0; Peter Uihlein; Jamie Lovemark; Michael Sim; Tiger; Finchem and Condi Rice (if she gets in at Augusta National.) . . . The game is driven by its biggest stars - that is why they make big bucks and drivers retail for $349 when they cost $49 to make.
