"Breaking News": Fewer Has-Beens And Corporate Goons To Clog Up AT&T Pro-Am

Thanks to John Strege at GolfDigest.com for spotting the Monterey County Herald's "Breaking News" story about the AT&T National Pro-Am field going from 180 to 156 in 2010.

Hooray! It's about time for this move. Rounds will probably be 5 1/2 hours instead of 6 1/2. Slow play was the main reason Tiger didn't play anymore-and the main reason it was so miserable for fans.

Wonder if they will increase the pro-am entry fee for the remaining 156 pro-am players to make up for the difference for the lost 24 spots. I would imagine that there is still no shortage of people willing to pay whatever ATT asks for this pro-am given the history and in light of the course rotation change this year.

IIRC this is the most expensive pro-am on the PGA Tour. Anybody know what the entry fee is? I have heard it was around 15k. Not sure if that's an accurate number.

Does that mean gallery and TV favorites like Bill Murray, Michael Bolton, George Lopez and Rush Limbaugh will get more air time? . . . I certainly would set my DVR to record the first 3 days if I knew I could see them on all 3 courses. . . I especially want to capture - and keep forever - some segments where Murray walks along the gallery ropes - signing 7 or 8 autographs - and the Golf Channel camera stays on him the entire time!
