"Does this mean the first Dubai World Championship was also the last? Given the news of Nakheel's financial problems, the only plausible answer is yes."

Hard to disagree with Lawrence Donegan's well-reasoned prediction that all things Dubai-hearts-golf are just about over in light of Nakheel's latest financial status update.

Aunt Blabbie...well put!

Anyone who didn't see this endgame coming was greedy and ignorant...they deserve to lose every nickel! Arid, with no natural resources other than a dwindling oil supply...the Dubai LIE was just that! C'mon gang, jet-setting, gross lifestyle pandering was a loser from the get-go. Not only that, firm and fast leads to dead and aghast...real quick... in this artificial environment.

This joke of a model will return Dubai to the insignificant speck it was. I feel for all the locals and feudal slaves that were harnessed to create this fraud at peon wages. Quite a few corporate bozos, British concerns in the main, invested big cash in this pipe dream...there could be significant financial pain ahead for some, including RBS which had their head deep in the trough.

On to China!

It just seemed to good to be true, didn't it?

So this means Tiger's first completed design is a 3-hole masterpiece?

And what of the The Cliffs? Odds are that one won't happen either.

Looks like the only ones who could afford Tiger's design fee, couldn't really afford it after all.

Actually, who would have ever thought golf in a desert was a good idea in the first place? Oh, wait...

Expect the al Maktoum brothers and their retinues to relocate to their splendid 2000-acre horse farms in and around Lexington in the foreseeable future. Maybe then one of them will win a Kentucky Derby.
C'mon guys, this things got legs!!!

Dubai World, Dubai Inc (whatever you want to call it) just defaulted on...uh I mean restructured...$60 to $80 billion dollars worth of debt.

This should be just enough to pay TIm Finchem's salary, Tiger's appearance fee, and the premiums needed for insurance to cover all the spectators who are at risk of being injured by Tiger's airborne clubs at the tee box!!!

I guess you guys just can see how all the moving pieces are beginning to fit together. Oh well.

MRP ... I can't feel good about tangling with you. You served our country and that's all I really needed to know. All the best.

Yep it's the end of Dubai, cause all they have is oil and the US has......err...uhm.....well....the Federal Reserve...ya thats the ticket. Just keep printing money, it'll all work out in the end. Wall street has got a few more tricks up its sleeve yet - carbon credits are the next bubble they're inflating now. California should turn to Wall St. for some consulting on how to hide the fact they are bankrupt and are now stealing tax refunds and pensions from the citizens..LOL, but ya Dubai's got some problems. And never mind all the subdivisions sitting empty around Las Vegas even with interest rates at 0%.

Well look at the bright side: we all may have a lot more time to play golf, because if China calls America's debt, it's gonna make the great depression look like a cake walk and suddenly Dubai with all their oil won't be looking so bad.
