geoff -- what would be your top 5 venues? i suppose riviera would have to be on that list...

Well since Riviera is taken...and I like to dream though I do think each of these venues could work, assuming an improvement in maintenance and cooperation from their management.

1. Rustic Canyon - my obvious bias. Pros: parking at nearby Moorpark CC, freeway access, interesting design (if I may say so) and would be attractive on TV. Cons: attendance could be an issue, maintenance budget and management competence would have to improve (though it's playing super fast and firm right now and greens are excellent.)

2. Santa Anita - Pros: parking at nearby Santa Anita race track, great freeway access fun/playable design that just needs a little sprucing up, solid population base near; Cons: would not be visually dramatic on television, small clubhouse)

3. Griffith Park (composite course of Harding/Wilson) Pros: plenty of parking at LA Zoo with great freeway access; Cons: designs rundown, maintenance needs major work, dealing with city of LA

4. Rancho Park Pros: has hosted LPGA, PGA and Champions, neat design; Cons: not much parking or public transit; great location though Cons: conditioning, dealing with city of LA

5. Wilshire CC Pros: excellent venue, unveiling new Kyle Phillips restoration/renovation in 2010, great location in city center in heart of major Korean population base; Cons: does membership want the hassle? Parking, traffic a pain.
