Does anybody have the number for Ross Fisher's pager?

So in the "Who might ruin the greatest story in sports" pool, how many people drafted Chris Wood?

The BBC does not know how to broadcast golf. The camera man can not follow the ball. And not being in HD is not expectable. I really miss CBS/NBC/ESPN!
07.19.2009 | Unregistered Commenterdoug
Actually it is expectable, just not acceptable. :)
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterScotty
oops. thanks for the correction.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered Commenterdoug
No problem. Now if somebody could correct that leaderboard and put Watson back on top.

Tom Watson gives a golf ball to a spectator. Is it so hard for other professional golfers to understand who really pays their salaries?

@ The Big K

Yes. This has been another episode of "Simple Answers to Simple Questions."

She was the woman his tee shot hit.

Phil would have given her a glove with a $100 bill slipped into it.
I'm liking Stuart Cink to drop an eagle on 17 and hang on for the playoff - at 4 under.

As much as I would defend BBC, the camerawork is atrocious. I appreciate that most cameras are on long zoom from half a mile away, but still, get a few well place ground level camaras and learn how to follow the ball.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterTim in Hoyalke
Better make that a double eagle for Cink, lol.

12:15 edt. Nice sand blast by Fisher - where did his brain go on 4. Just go back to the Tee buddy, take a six and don't mess with that rough - an 8 - what a killer. Ernie, master choker. Chris Wood - nice bet next year. Westwood is looking solid; good airtime on that putt on 14. Goggin looks dangerous though. BBC commentator Ken Brown said that when it gets cold, and the ball doesn't travel so far, he would leave his golf balls in hot water for a few hours before the round, so that they would go further. Is this allowed by the rules? If so, good to know. Where's Jim Furyk?

DBCooper - you mean Albatross, as Paul Lawrie had...

DB - right you are.

Has Curtis Strange called anyone a "booger" today?
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterScott
I just looked up 'sucker pin' in the dictionary, and there's a picture of the 16th green. Cink in the bunker - looks like -2 will be the winning score...
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterTim in Hoylake
Chris Wood has played the best golf the last two years of anybody in the Open.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterOWGR Fan
Is he really going to do it???!!! Can barely watch, but magic is unfolding before me
07.19.2009 | Unregistered Commenterchuckieamc
Watson will most likely get up and down to win, but Westwood might just really regret 3 putting 18.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterDBCooper
Cink one shot better than Watson on the four playoff holes this week - something ABC will probably not mention.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterNRH
More Weiskopf, less Strange, please.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterDBCooper
what db said. i wish one of the networks would add weikopf to their team. i miss that low key and knowledgeable approach to golf commentary.

There was divine intervention this afternoon, but God apparently didn't see that it was Cink who wore the emerald green shirt this time. But I'm OK with Cink as a major champion. Nice touch that he duplicated Watson's final hole approach in ´77.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterHawkeye
I'm ok with Cink, too. He made his putt on the 72nd hole and played the playoff beautifully.

Westwood has got to be disgusted with himself, running his birdie putt so damn far past on his 72nd hole. I know he didn't want to leave it short, but why bomb it?
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterDBCooper
He's just not a feel player, like most of his generation. That's what launch monitors and custom fitting does to players, and that's why Watson could compete at age 59.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterHawkeye
Cink joins that exclusive club of Lehman, Leonard, Duval, Hamilton, Curtis, etc.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterFrank Lee
Apparently Watson didn't learn anything from the 1984 Open.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered CommenterFrank Lee
That is one good looking piece of property. Would like to have a nice beverage at the hotel. Found it amazing that I never saw Goosen on TV even though he was within striking distance of the lead almost all day. And I like the fact that Wood does not wear a baseball hat.
07.19.2009 | Unregistered Commentervwgolfer
Cink called Turnberry "this old style golf" in his post- first round interview. Surprised no one did anything with that.
