"With this fescue, shades of an Open Championship layout."

Kelly Tilghman on today's telecast, talking about Liberty National.

Just another example of why KT is the worst announcer in the history of televised golf. Yes, Geoff, worse than Bobby Clampett. Much worse.

Well, see, now that's plain ridiculous. It's not the fescue that reminds one of an Open Championship, it's the bunkers.

And Lady Liberty, of course.

Somebody should show Kelly T the pic Geoff posted here and ask her exactly what course in the Open rota LN resembles most. Would love to hear what she compares it to.

KT needs to head back to the studio for the pre/post game stuff and leave the announcing to professionals. Problem is that Comcast (TGC owner) would probably never pony up enough $$$ to get a top notch broadcasting staff.

FWIW I have no real issues with KT other than she is in so far over hear head in her current position that TGC should cut their losses ASAP and have somebody else a bit more polished in the host chair.

Her incessant FEC and Tiger fawning at every turn has to stop. She probably has more people hit mute or change the channel than any other announcer in televised golf.

I don't believe even Turnberry is sitting on as much WW2 ammunition and waste as Liberty National has from NJ organized crime.

Kelly's introduction to the Golf Channel broadcast yesterday, with her artificial emphasis on selected words throughout the two minute overview, actually made me laugh out loud. She's is absolutely dreadful, as Simon Cowell would say.

I did read somewhere that it costs $500,000 to join . . . didn't I? You'd think that money would buy some decent architecture.

Money can't buy class, Jordan.

I heard the same line and thought "I bet that'll be on Geoff's blog by the end of the day." It's beyond laughable.

OK. Now I'm beginning to understand why so many Shackelfordians are not enamored with Kelly. That is a remarkable statement. Kind of like the course: remarkable.

BTW one of you needs to help me out here. RE the previous thread, what did Sir Nick say about Liberty National?

Jordan: One would think...but The O is right, as usual. Money doesn't buy class. Look at The Donald! It can't even buy him a decent comb-over.
My favorite Kelly-ism/Kelly-fell-off-the-turnip-truck-this-morning was after Angel Cabrera won The Masters and she wondered allowed -- sincerely stumped -- what he might order up for next year's champions dinner.

Why, of course, Angel Cabrera will have steak served. That's right, Kelly, steak. Argentine pirme beef. Some of the world's best red meat. Angel is muy macho.

guess tiger's no comment to tv is his way to avoid commenting on course. inasmuch as phil is member any comment would be interpreted as shot at phil.

500,000$ to join this place. Once again proving that the some of the uber rich are suckers.

I forgot to add. My wife and I planted some fescue in our backyard here in Brooklyn NY. Everytime I see I think of Liberty National.

"I thought fescue was a Shakespearean clown" Alistair Cooke
"If I get in the fescue I'll get into the game quicker" Fan
"You can't get a beret in the fescue...see that onion dome over there..." Milliner
"Why are they lined up in front of the priest? Must be the fescue." Athiest

Sorry.

Only difference? Steve Flesch wouldn't "accidentally" DQ himself at The Open.

Maybe she meant the New Jersey Open Championship.

This woman should be banned from televised golf...how much more of her inane, nonsensical drivel must we endure?...please Golf Channel...get rid of this idiot ...let her do the golf weather report...or the high school lunch menu over the PA...she's just horrible. Please...no more Kelly...please!

during the same telecast the Staten Island ferry was referred to as, I believe, "magnificent"

It's the norm now, pro golf embarrassing itself.

All this Fescue talk brings back memory of a favorite scene from Goodfella.

Now the guy's got Tim Finchem as a partner. Any problems, he goes to Finchem. Trouble with the charities? He can go to Finchem. Trouble with the networks, fields, Tiger, he can call Finchem. But now the guy's gotta come up with The Tour’s money every week no matter what. Business bad? Fescue, pay me. Oh, you had to write off a few assets? Fescue, pay me. Government put money to stabilize the institution huh? Fescue you, pay me."

Kevin,
Bang on...she is DREADFUL! I've never heard one insightful comment from her ...EVER. Just shows you how clueless GC management is. They must think pandering to golf morons and eye-candy raters is the way so go...pathetic. There are other talented females in the arena, with real golf knowledge to share....maybe by 2020 GC will identify one so Kelly can start drawing her retirement pension.

Kelly,

And the hits just keep on coming from Kelly.

Yesterdays broadcast was the worst she (kelly) has ever been. I cut her slack on the Tiger comment last year and didn't think she should be suspended but her comments now are just plain stupid.

IS it that YOU don't apPREciate the way her VOICE moduLAtion lends DRAMa and exCITEment to the BROADcast?
especially when there's absoLUTEly nothing going ON?
even before considering the insipid nature of half of what she says, the way she says it is so annoying that I had not, before tuning in at 1 pm today, watched a golf channel broadcast in well over a year. other networks? lots. golf channel? none. and expressly because of her. she's that bad.
how long did I last today? three minutes, tops. never have I felt such a strong and sudden desire to go out and mow the lawn.
networks for the final round tomorrow? I hope so.

It's great to find out that I am not the only one that can't stand KT. I hit the mute for a while now I don't even watch until Sat. and Sunday. Hopefully GC will wake up soon.
