Russell Simmons Moves To The Top Of Tiger's List

You can just imagine the joy Tiger and his foundation felt upon hearing that Russell Simmons had volunteered a $3 million donation from Tiger for Haiti relief.

Not surprisingly it appears to have been untrue and now the Woods Foundation is "evaluating the most appropriate role" to help the Haitian people.

Greg McLaughlin, president of the Tiger Woods Foundation, said Friday he has not received any information from rap mogul Russell Simmons, who has said on Twitter that Woods is providing $3 million to help with the recovery.

McLaughlin said the foundation staff was evaluating “the most appropriate role” to help the Haitian people.

“Our plan is be part of the relief effort to help rebuild Haiti by supporting organizations that provide critical resources to young people, which is consistent with our mission and previous efforts regarding Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Katrina and the 2004 tsunami,” McLaughlin said in a statement.

Tiger ought to get his PED-laden body down ther and do some physical work, it might just help his sad image. He could always salvage some Haitian Booty, too.

As cynical as it sounds, and as much as I agree that overly-public displays of charity are gauche, I actually think that if Tiger *did* do something huge and public to make a significant difference in Haiti that he would have essentially paved the way for a much smoother and accepted return to golf and the public eye. Who would possibly deign to ask such base questions as "Did you have to wear a chastity belt while you were at Pine Grove?" to the man who delivered 10 million bottles of water to, and funded three mobile hospitals in, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere after one of the biggest natural disasters of the last fifty years?

Of course, that's not the reason why Tiger should (or hopefully, would) do something like that, but I bet they've thought about it. And if he does it, I wouldn't blame him if an "unnamed source" leaks the story to Radaronline.

Well..If he's going to do something, seeing the money come out of his own pocket, rather than from his foundation, might have a bit more effect.

I do love how Russell Simmons is basically extorting it out of him though...
