"Golf can deliver new technology as fast as any other business sector."

In John Paul Newport's column on Callaway and Lamborgini using the same material to sucker more rich guys into overpaying for some privileged cocktail party banter, Taylor Made CEO Mark King reiterates his assertion that there is plenty of room for manufacturers to innovate. Something to remember should the governing bodies decide to enact real regulation and CEO's (or golf writers) start howling about the lack of room to innovate within the current rules.

"It's hogwash, this idea that there is no more room to innovate," said Mark King, the chief executive at TaylorMade. "Golf can deliver new technology as fast as any other business sector."

Of course the taylormade ceo says that golf companies can still innovate- TM puts out a new driver technology that adds ten yards every four months or so. Since 2005 I've added 150 yards to my drives just by buying new TM drivers.

New technology . . .OK . . . Better technology . . . ? . . . World #1, Lee Westwood, is still using his "old" Ping G10 driver . . . Champion's Tour #1, B. Langer, is using a 2007 Pro V1 model that "Titleist still makes for me.". . . Geoff Shackelford website #1, Ky Laffoon, is still using an old putter he dragged behind his car while driving from El Paso to Houston. . .

Just how much technology can you get into a tube with a bent bit of metal one end and rubber coating on the other?
