that's about as low-stress a grouping as tiger could have hoped for, i think. i like how he used freddie as a human shield for his practice round.

The pairing won't help Tiger in any discernible way, I think, but it surely won't help Kuchar or Choi. Most everybody would prefer to not deal with the Tiger issue in a normal tournament or in a normal major, but this Masters would be one where I would think players would much rather only be paired with him on Sunday by necessity.

I think I'm pulling Kuch off my pool sheet.

Kuchar was one helluva sleeper this week...before this. Could still be, but things have changed.

A little off topic but an interesting hypothetical question. Tiger has a late tee time. Could a player with unlimited resources like TIger send a spotter to every green and chart each putt as to where it started and where it ended up? You could not do this with a lot of accuracy, but we have all seen holes where from certain angles, almost the entire field will either read too much or too little break, or be really fooled on the speed. If a caddy had those charts before his player teed off, knowing that 14 of 15 guys read too much break, or ran it 8 feet past on a particular putt might be very useful indeed. Would this be illegal?

@ tlavin... LOlL! Who says the powers that be at ANGC don't have a sense of humor?

When the PGA was at Sahalee, Fluff (Tiger's caddie at the time) came out and putted some on the greens before the final round began. This was legal since the player is not responsible for his caddies actions before or after the round. Normally a Committee would not allow the caddie to get on the course like this, but I guess the PGA didn't prohibit it.

This was told to me by an offiical who was working the championship and saw Fluff doing it on the hole where he was assigned to work. I'm not sure if he went to every hole.

caddies routinely boast about watching the telcast before going out to see which way the putts break.

I think Rory, Villegas and Mr. Perry would be fun to follow around...pity Poulter, Scott, and the four others in the group either side of Woods.

Re JJ - with the Amen corner feed, some players could watch a few hours of that to get an idea of deceptions on those 3 holes at least...

Tiger and Jasper in a pair last out would have been gold.

@TLavin Too funny!

Makes you wonder if the Masters Committee really wanted Richard S Johnson or Richard Green to have qualified to pair with Woods and Kuchar.

Do you think they considered pairing him with Ernie Els so Tiger was playing with "Big Easy" "Kuch"?
