Tiger: Hank And I Agree That He Will No Longer Be My Coach

Guess it was a mutual decision after all:

Hank Haney and I have agreed that he will no longer be my coach. Hank is an outstanding teacher and has been a great help to me, but equally importantly he is a friend. That will not change.
I would like to thank him for all he has done for me the past six years.

Yep. I too agree that it dawned on the two of them at the exact same time.

Is there a modern equivalent of Harvey Penick? tiger needs someone like that. How about Ken Venturi?

It is time for Tiger Woods to go to the man who taught Hank Haney. . . Jim Hardy.

No - he would not turn Tiger into a "one planer" like Olin Browne! . . . Hardy knows the golf swing - regardless of whether you are a one or two plane swinger. . .Most importantly he would show Tiger the fundamentals necessary for Tiger's technique while eliminating the mis-matching of one and two plane principles. . . Browse Hardy's book, One Plane Swing - Master Class, the best golf fundamentals book since Hogan's.

Interesting that Hank is doing the GC interview from the home of Foxwoods Resort Casino in CT.

Now we know for sure the check wasn't returned.

Jim Hardy would be great for Tiger on the technical parts of the swing but also could help TW stabilize his wobbly personal life.

Tiger should hire Johnny Miller as his swing coach. Johnny knows everything, just listen to his commentary as an analyst for NBC.

How about TW just go out to the range and figure it out himself. The secret is in the dirt.

And when Tiger and Stevie "agree" that Stevie will no longer be Tiger's caddie, Tiger should put Johnny Miller on the bag. Johnny knows the break of every putt on every green, just listen to his commentary as an analyst for NBC. Not to mention, just imagine what Johnny would do for Tiger's confidence! Before every chip and putt, Johnny would tell Tiger that it is an easy shot and one that Tiger should definitely make. And, if Tiger, missed a shot, and Johnny called him a "choker," then Tiger could redirect his anger at Johnny onto his competitors and 9-&-8-Stephen-Ames the rest of the field! With Johnny at his side, Tiger would finally stop losing 60% of the tournaments he enters (how he can stand being the first-, second-, or third-loser most of the time is beyond me). Together, Tiger and Johnny would make history!

Serious prediction: Just as Tiger's people staged that jogging photo when he came out of hiding, he will hold an informal, private and widely publicized and photographed practice session with Arnold Palmer. You'll see them joking, patting each other on the back, etc., and the entire thing will be a ham-fisted stab at image rehab. Tiger will say something faux humble like, "It was fun -- just two guys talking golf."

Trevino said it best regarding golf instructors. Most of us need help however the rules preclude it once one puts a ball in play.

It will be easier to find Seamus MacDuff than Mac O'Grady. COB, you are on to something. I predicted long ago that there is a Power Hitter or Medicus informercial in Tiger's future. Might as well get started early. It couldn't hurt.

Anyway, what about Roy McAvoy? Romeo in the guise of Cheech has already appeared somewhere recently in ShackLand.
Mac O'Grady is the best teacher in golf

Tiger should get a Harmon disciple... that way he'll be relearning a swing he knows he can play with, without the ego clash.
