You Know It's Bad In Sea Island When They Can't Pay The Polo Bill

That's like the water bill to those beautiful people!

Yes, the heartbreaking news has arrived that Polo Ralph Lifshitz Lauren isn't getting paid by Sea Island. If ever a place personified The Brand, it's Sea Island.

Not anymore!

From Rachel Feintzig of the WSJ's Bankruptcy Beat blog.

“No part of the purchase price of the goods has been paid to the seller,” Kenneth I. Cruz, the Polo Ralph Lauren Senior Director of Credit, wrote in the letter. “The seller has learned that the debtor received the goods on credit while the debtor was insolvent,” he added, noting that the goods arrived within 45 days of the resort’s Aug. 10 bankruptcy filing.

Reached by phone on Tuesday, Cruz declined to elaborate on the letter, only noting that the merchandise was “golf products.” He referred questions to his company’s attorney, who didn’t return a call seeking comment Tuesday.

If I were the attorney, I'd barter my fee for a month long all inclusive stay at Sea Island with access to Frederica as well.
Wonder what the PGA Tour makes of all this?

Polo's crap anyway, buy Peter Millar.

That's a helluva Lodge there, though.

They're both too fruity for me.

Priorities askew for a long time. Sea Island ... coastal real estate and golf course bones for the ages ... and bungled beyond all reason. Maybe someone will make a fix once the glass of fashion people exeunt.

Probably not.

Are they the ones with the horse?

They might not be able to pay Ralph Lauren but they are still advertising "special rates" for residents of Georgia. I wonder if the Polo stuff in the Pro Shop has been discounted, seeing as how it is free merchandise? My, how the mighty have fallen.
I really dont understand all this gloating? You too Geoff. Why? Jelaus that You are not the owner? I mean come on, Sea Island is one of the very best golf destinations in the world. The hotels and courses are spectacular and the service is amazing. THe prices are not as high as many think, in fact they are almost half of what You pay when you stay and play at Pebble.

As a real fan of golf we should try and support Sea Island

GolfFan, it's funny that you should mention Peter Millar. If I'm not mistaken they (the shirt company) were once owned by Sea Island, the in-house brand if you will.
