"It's starting to be a trend."
Doug Ferguson on Chad Campbell's DQ for not registering at the Deutsche Bank. I have no real feelings either way about this, unlike his last screw up.
Much like the formality of signing a scorecard at the end of a round, PGA Tour players must register when they get to a tournament before it starts. Campbell arrived Tuesday evening, practised all week and even played Friday, opening with a 1-over 72.
He just never signed up.
Campbell was No. 83 in the FedEx Cup standings, needing to move into the top 70 to advance to the third round next week in Chicago. He would have played Saturday afternoon in the strongest wind.
"It's a sad thing," said Mark Russell, the tour's vice-president of rules and competition. "I'm not at all pleased with it. But it's a regulation that you've got to register when you arrive on site. And if you don't before your competition round, the regulation says you're ineligible from competing in the tournament."

Hopefully the DQ his proam partners as well if he participated in the Pro Am.
Huh? The volunteers at check in wouldn't know Chad Campbell from a standard bearer until he shows them a drivers license.
Yes he messed up, but WTF are the officials doing to not make sure all the PW is done?
Damn, little miss podunk beauty pageant makes sure the PW is done.
With the pros getting distracted by media, etc, the DQ's, Like MWie had for 'leaving thr area????????, etc, are just BS.
Common sense has no play in pro golf, I guess. Officials are eating donut holes instead of doing their jobs, I guess. I KNOW it is the pros place to take care of his own interest, but again, LOTS of distractions that can throw one off a routine.
This is CLERICAL BULLSHIT, not sports.

Again, some may not like the rule, and absolutely, the officials should have caught it BEFORE he played, but regardless, he broke a rule, and is disqualified, period!
