Planning Your Presidents Cup Viewing...

I've been a little surprised that there hasn't been more coverage of the coverage. That is, NBC's bold decision to air all of the Presidents Cup rounds live on Golf Channel, and then play the tape later on NBC during normal U.S. viewing hours.

As I noted when it was first announced, this is the first big benefit of the Comcast-Universal merger and certainly one that will hurt the final Cup ratings, but which serves the viewer interested in live golf.

The times again so you can prepare. All are Eastern Time:

Wednesday, Nov 16
 Foursome Golf Channel 9 p.m. -- 2 a.m.

Thursday, Nov. 17
Four Ball Golf Channel 7:30 p.m. -- 2 a.m.

Friday, Nov. 18
 Foursome Golf Channel 4 p.m. -- 2 a.m.

Saturday, Nov. 19
Singles Golf Channel 6:30 p.m. -- 12:30 a.m.

Replay
Thursday, Nov. 17
Foursome Golf Channel 9 a.m. -- 1:30 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 18
 Four Ball Golf Channel 9 a.m. -- 1:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 19
Foursome NBC 8 a.m. -- 4 p.m.

Like many, I am glad Woods was selected for the American team. Without him, we wouldn't care who won but now, many viewers are rooting hard for the International team. A win for NBC/Golf Channel.

The lack of legal streaming options is a serious fail. Unless I am wrong, which I'd like to be.

Now you know what it's like for Indian golf fans who need to watch the US majors usually between 1.30am and 5am usually. Enjoy it - suggest a strong coffee at the start of the session

Cheers

How about the Sunday coverage?

@John - I agree ... maybe SkySports?

For once, it is good to be in the Mountain Time Zone.

And even better to be in the Pacific Time Zone ...

Central Time Zone and I think it's perfect! Set the DVR, come home from bowling, watch a little, shut it down for some zzzzz's, and resume in the morning with a hot cup of java. What could be better?

P.S. Don't have to get up for work and am thoroughly enjoying retirement!

LadyH -

I may need some bowling tips - my wife kicks my tail every time! Someday I will invest in one of those DVR thingamajigs....

Oh Rick, please get a DVR! It will make your life so much better, you can watch while recording, zoom thru commercials, record two things at once and up to 4 w/Uverse. Everything is stored on a hard drive, no sifting thru tapes or worrying about running out of tape. Automatic timers, if you're on vacation for a wk, you come home to all your shows, if that's an entire 4-day golf tourney, so be it. I could never go back.

Come to Chgo for some bowling tips, lol, I recently shot a 290, amazing, I'm decent (180+ avg) but never thought I'd see that.
Give my best to your wife, she's gotta be ok if she can bowl!

LadyH -

Whoa, Nellie! A 290? That's like shooting a 60-61 in golf - congrats! Fortunately, I can bowl higher scores than my golf scores, but not by a whole lot. I don't know if that speaks more about my golf or my bowling! I may have to tak you up on those tips - my wife is an Oak Park/River Forest gal so we do get back there occasionally. Though not in winter, I may add....

LOL, Rick you are funny! It was in a house (I sub there for a ladies league) that I hate, imagine that!

The first frame spare kept me relaxed as I knew a 300 wasn't possible.

She's from Ill? That explains her bowling, Chgo has a long boring winter and many of us bowl.

Often wanted to ask - have a cousin who works at a golf course in the Santa Fe area, Chris Markos, great guy and you've probably played wherever it is that he works. I need to find out
11.16.2011 | Unregistered CommenterLadyH
Let me know - I likely have played it as I have played almost all the courses in the central NM area....

I think three strikes in a row is my personal best. I took bowling in college as my PE (back in the days when one did that) and always enjoyed it, but never did it very often. Like golf, it is another sport/activity that is harder than it looks to do well.
