Recreating The Match For The First Tee?

Josh Sens on the Tuesday fourball match at Cypress Point between Bubba Watston/Rickie Fowler and Davis Love/Fred Couples. It's preceded by the Monday First Tee fundraiser and dinner at Pebble Beach for the "whale" investors of the PGA Tour's beloved charity.

Like the match it's modeled on, Tuesday's homage has been kept hush-hush, but club insiders say the event was the brainchild of PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. The match is being staged as a thank you to the major donors to the First Tee.

It's for the children!

This being Cypress Point, don't expect large galleries to swarm the fairways when the match goes off at 9 a.m. Spectators will be limited to club employees and a small number of invited guests. In '56, Hogan and Nelson held off their challengers, one-up. But for anyone bent on wagering this time around, the smart money's on the youngsters.

But you can park nearby and walk the 17 Mile Drive and watch play on the first, 13th, 14th and 18th holes.

More importantly, will both teams break 60 if the weather is decent? All of the working out they've done will leave poor Cypress helpless if the wind doesn't blow.
