Report: Toms Hasn't Heard From PGA About Ryder Captaincy

Jason Sobel says with 48 hours to go before a Today Show announcement for the 2014 Ryder Cup, presumed frontrunner David Toms hasn't been called.

As Sobel notes, this probably means we will see a new direction for the PGA of America.

Unclear from that when or where Toms was interviewed, but it attests to his confident expectation of the job. He may not have had "the call," though I very much doubt he would admit it if he had if the announcement was scheduled for network TV. But Toms does not strike me as a vainglorious type who would be essentially stating his position of he had not been pretty sure. Looks as if he has been tipped a wink and told to keep schtum until Thursday.
