"By having a dinosaur here, we've created more interest in golf."

It's hard to argue with Mr. Palmer, owner of the Coolum resort and feuding with the Australian PGA over an event we probably wouldn't have paid much attention to since the course is a monstrous letdown after fellow Australian triple crown sites Kingston Heath and The Lakes.

Phil Lutton writes:

However, Palmer is confident the impasse is over and the event, which has been held at the former Hyatt resort (now owned by Palmer) for 11 years, will not be moving, contrary to earlier statements by the PGA's chief executive, Brian Thorburn.

''We have Jeff the dinosaur. He's been all around the world. And isn't that good for golf? Maybe golf has been a little bit mundane. By having a dinosaur here, we've created more interest in golf. That's not a bad thing.

He has a name! Thank God he's not a fellow Ge-off.

By the way, look who is lurking heading into the final round. That's right, geezer Peter Senior who won last week's Australian Open and trails leader Daniel Popovic by three. Pamplin, Allenby and Ogilvy lurk as well. Golf Channel's coverage starts at 9 p.m. PT.
