What about the twin grip putter on page 4? Feel sorry for the designer, must of had um real bad. Now my Acushnet bullseye putter with the leather Crenshaw paddle grip doesn't look so strange.

D. mac, I have an old H&B "Custom Made" Louisville PowerBilt putter that has a wooden grip which is carved like a Ma Roller, if you know what that might be. It belonged to a friend of my grandfather -- for years I've been trying to figure out how it was intended to be held! Shaft is wood too. Whacky stuff clearly nothing new!

Now you frip ohva....

Can't imagine either, Del. But there was some strange stuff back in the day. You should do some research on that one. The oldest putters I have are a replica "Calamity Jane" from the 30's era, and an early George Low with blade face. That was before he designed the famous Wizard.

No wonder they lost track of things. The testing range at Far Hills is only 325 yards long! That's fine for testing 3-woods nowadays. But most tour players are literally off the grid, with driver... ;-)

The USGA research facility has always been reactive, never proactive. Always has been, always will be.

How can they compete with TM & Titleist?
The research facility reports to the I&B who don't always listen
