There's A Deep Backstory to Suzann's "Bodies" Issue Photo Shoot

And Steve DiMeglio talks to her about it, but do you really care about anything else but the photo?

So when ESPN The Magazine approached her to appear in its upcoming Body Issue, Pettersen, ranked No. 6 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, didn't hesitate in agreeing to show off her birthday suit.

"A lot of the best athletes in the world have done it, and I thought it was great to be asked. I thought about it, being naked and all, but I never really considered not doing it," said Pettersen, who is 5-9 and weighs 150 pounds. "I just had to make sure that I was comfortable in doing it. It's as natural as it gets. It's health at its peak.

"I'm in great company."

I hope there is a "Making of" film of the whole 5-hour shoot.

She needs to lose about 25 pounds.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterChema
25 pounds would be a good start.

25 pounds? You can't be serious. I think she looks perfect. Gutsy move.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterBMo
If you saw her in person, the 2 comments about losing 25 lbs would be obviously ridiculous. I'm not really sure if she is a nice person or not, but she is certainly in great shape.

Chema sounds like the kind of guy that sits in front of his PC with a box of Kleenex. Lose 25 lbs.? You're nuts. Love to see you keep up with her workout, or keep up period.

Is this ESPN's attempt to compete with the SI bathing suit issue?
I took SI for about 35 years, discontinued around 2007, because there weren't that many articles I was intrigued to read. It had changed . . or I had changed. . . or both. The only thing I read regularly was the Golf Plus segment.
The bathing suit issue never upset me, but it wasn't something I looked forward to. My feeling about it was the same as this ESPN practice. If I want sports I go to a sports magazine. If I want skin I go elsewhere. Putting skin in a sports magazine is senseless to me. That said, there is a huge segment of potential "readers" who are male and 15 to 35 years old, and they probably feel differently. So it's a way to draw some "readers," at least for one issue. And the heads at the mag have run the numbers and determined they'll pick up more sales than they lose with this practice.

She seems like a nice Christian gal. God bless her. I would.

"If I want skin I go elsewhere."

Yeah but that's pretty nice skin on Suzann.

Quite an upgrade from Christina Kim :o)

Whatever happened to Corey Pavin's flag-draped wife? She seemed to want to be naked for us, too, but just wasn't brave enough?

I once went to a bodybuilding contest just to see what it was like. These were extremely fit, built and dedicated amateurs.... obviously some more ripped than others. When a solidly-built but apparent non-winner was going through his routine, some clown right behind me shouted out "Try dieting!" I turned around to look at this shlub whose most fit bodypart was his mouth and to his face, "I don't see YOU up there. At least he has the guts to try."

The point is that there are always those who seek to tear down, to demonstrate their ignorance from behind a keyboard. We used to have a saying in Texas: "It's EASY to criticize." Therefore, when I read comments above from jokes such as Chema and Sun Mountain Ma, I can only offer one piece of advice.... DON'T DISPLAY YOUR IGNORANCE.

Lose 25 pounds? Why, so some sidelines-hugging loser such as yourself will be attracted to her? To lose muscle and strength and probably 25 YARDS in the process?

Tell what boys, when you make the cover of GQ or when you win Mr. Olympia or when you take the Ironman title... let us know.

'Never date a woman with a BMI over 18.'
Ewww, sounds like you may be more in the market for a stick insect, Chema. The tropics are your best bet.
She looks great.

@Chema

My guess from your writing is you're 22 yrs. old or suffer from a case of arrested development. I have a friend like you. We call him Shallow Ken, only because Hal was taken and his name's Ken.

Anyhow, a BMI of 18 would require that Ms Pettersen weigh 122 US pounds. How many stone that is escapes me although many of the Euros here will know. Borderline anorexia IMHO.

Chema has been around this site for a long time. Without specific points to call out as examples, my general reaction was that I wasn't surprised.

The beauty of the internet is that ignorance and stupidity can be spread out like never before.

@ben, your posts are generally rock-solid. You're better than that guy, don't waste your time. Of course, why am I? I guess it's because I respect women and my fellow Shackians too much to read such inanity without commenting on it, too.

Hit 'em straight, all....unless a draw is called for, or a stinger to cut below the wind, or a high fade, or....oh heck, just go have fun out there! :)
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterPete the Luddite
By the way, Suzann is listed at 5'7" on the LPGA website. The plot - like her thighs - thickens.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterChema
25 pounds or no she is just a SoCal 6 ... which is a Wisconsin 9 and a Singapore Airlines 3.

That being said ... I wholeheartedly approve of this thread. :)
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterWillie Loman
I remember her first year as a pro she was kind of a porker and also was heard dropping F-bombs all over the place. Though she has trimmed down nicely, she still looks pizzed off on the golf course most of the time.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered Commenterrb
I understand the need for attention, but does she really need this when all she has to do is give someone a look at her trophy collection to prove herself a top/successful athlete?

As for the thighs comment, it's obvious Chem doesn't understand that athletes have an athletic build, and not a supermodel build. Otherwise they'd be supermodels and not athletes. Speaking of legs, I do believe that leg strength is one of the most underappreciated factors in a good golf swing. I can remember several times when I was quite a bit less fit when my game would go to pot because my legs ran out of gas and couldn't keep up with my upper body late in the round.

i'd like to see pics of those telling her to lose 25 lbs.

she looks pretty hot to me!
07.11.2012 | Unregistered Commenterchicago pt
She looks GREAT. Now I don't get it; a lot a female musicians feel the need to get naked too. And I don't mean Lady Ga Ga BSer's, I mena serious musicians and songwriters. Like I said ---I don't get it.

As to Suzann, her weight surprised me, until I thought about it, and muscle weighs a heck of a lot more than fat, and she is buff.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered Commenterdigsouth
Put a black wig on her and its XENA.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterBen NY
Good one, Willie Loman.

You've stumbled upon the reason why I only ever fly with Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines.

Having said that, I do think SP looks good - epitome of health etc.
07.11.2012 | Unregistered CommenterChina Golfer
Damn SP has got a solid looking set of pipes and head crushing thighs....i'd give her a shot at the 'title'.

She's not 5'7" Chema... i've seen her up close at a tourney awhile back....tour media guides are notoriously less than accurate most of the time. Perhaps an anorexic Christina Kim/Beth Bauer gal is more your type...you couldn't handle a real woman like Suzann...IMNSHO.
07.12.2012 | Unregistered Commenterjohnnnycz
Chema is here to shock and get a reaction, most of his posts are the same type of thing. I know who he is, and trust me, he's not getting anywhere near women half as attractive as Suzanne, except maybe in his dreams.
07.12.2012 | Unregistered CommenterPress Agent
Press Agent,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me she's not hot...at all. To some of you that think every woman with blonde hair is smokin', that is your issue. 150, it that is accurate, is pretty hefty. You do realize there is something called air brushing, don't you. Every magazine in America uses it.
07.12.2012 | Unregistered CommenterBen NY
Too bulky for me.
07.12.2012 | Unregistered CommenterRock
I nominate Chema, Sun Mountain Man, and Ben NY for asinine post awards. Congratulations.
07.12.2012 | Unregistered CommenterGoose
I was just out with Chema tonight, we both got the Heisman from a 135 pounder (i think she liked me more). Maybe she reads Geoffshackelford.com. Life on the mainline can be hard.

Press agent you don't know Chema.
