Bubba: "I think we should check people for mental problems if they're taking deer antler spray."

Steve DiMeglio files an updated story on the Vijay Singh-uses-banned-substances story, with some of Vijay's pass issues.

And now what figures to be a future issue for Vijay with a peer, as Bubba Watson made several provocative statements in his pre-Waste Management Open press conference.

" … It's sad that people do stuff like that. It's sad that people would put some weird thing like that in their body not knowing what it's going to do to their body. But I love a sport, I happen to play golf. I love this sport. I would never do that. First of all, I would never put something named that in my body. If I lose my Tour card, I'm never going to go to deer antler spray to try to help me. It would just be I'd have to find a new job.

“I always check it because that's the one thing – I've never been drunk in my life, I don't drink alcohol,” he explained. “I've never done a drug in my life, so that's the one thing I never want to be caught when people say I'm a cheater. Yeah, I go to lengths to make sure everything is legal.”

sorry Johnny, but the watch was given to him from his sponsor. he wore it in events to advertise. not even sure if he got to keep it. Similar to famous celebs wearing million dollar bras in victoria secret shoot. no one accuses them of buying a million dollar bra. bBubba never bought the 500,000 dollar watch. but of course Johnny would rather hate on someone than to get real information. funny how people jump to conclusions without knowing a lick of actual facts. Bubba was obviously joking around. He was on the telecast yesterday at 16 before teeing off, and referencing every sponsor he has, and it was funny the way he did it. Tone is everything along with body language, and Bubba was just jerking VJ's chain.

When the voice of reason comes from Bubba Watson you know you have made a stupid choice!

There's cheating and stupidity, Vijah's choice veers much closer to stupidity because he could have taken a real PE drug and not a quack drug on the fringe that attempts to mimic a better acting PE.

Then again some of my playing partners wear copper braclets and frequency braclets. Vijay's choice is much closer to this mentality. Remember he freely admitted to using deer antler spray and WAS an enthusiatic supporter. That is more telling then attenpted cheating and trying to conceal it.

Ignorance is no excuse, so let a short suspension begin. Hopefully there is not some automatic lengthy suspension without disgression.

StephenP, the Tour caught Calcavecchia using the same product and did not suspend him -- so clearly there is no automatic suspension associated with this.

As for Bubba, if the poor fella had to go out and get a real job he'd likely starve...

Digger, just watched Bubba again. Pretty sure this tool wasn't kidding. He's turned into a modern day "christian", where all the mistakes he makes God forgives, all the mistakes others make are because something is wrong with them. He's a christian like Tammy Faye was a christian.
