PGA Show Industry Roundtable, Witnesses Wanted!

The PGA of America has some interesting things on tap for the annual Merchandise Show Jan 24-26 in Orlando. Some firsthand accounts would be nice since the transcripts and video tend to be pretty unreliable. Volunteers?

For Immediate Release:

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – A compelling schedule of presentations by industry leaders on the PGA Forum Stage will begin with LPGA Hall of Famer and 10-time major winner Annika Sorenstam joining The PGA of America and industry leaders following PGA of America President Ted Bishop's welcome remarks on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10:00 a.m. Sorenstam will open the three-day PGA Forum programming schedule with her unique insights on the future of golf and current growth-of-the-game initiatives.

Most of the golf stuff is made in Asia. Most, or all, of the growth in golfers and courses is in Asia. PGA Tour stops are now in Asia. Didn't see any names or mention of the far eastern reps. other than the " larhest international gathering " quote.

Of the programs mentioned, I have only heard of " Tee It Forward ". And where is First Tee mentioned ? Even though a USGA program, it deserves some mention.

To an outsider, it seems more like a " Wait unti llthe boss orders a drink " expense account week.

I would like to see, each week on a Saturday morning or afternoon, at one public course in each city / region, a free lesson or hit golf balls at the range from Memorial Day to 4th of July or maybe Labor Day. Rotate the freebie afternoon, heavily supported or paid by PGA, around the public courses in each region. Try to get kids / young adults interested. Run an ad in the local paper, get the odd spot on TV.

It was encouraging to see Dottie added. Hope Dottie can wake the old geezers up.

I'd be happy to file a report fro the Loudmouth party. Last year, I was ridiculed by Robert Gamez for not wearing Loudmouth Pants. Bizarro world...but a fun party!
