Video: Charl Schwartzel's Unbelievable Recovery Shot

They don't get much more astonishing than this from Charl Schwartzel, who trails Tommy Fleetwood by five heading into the final round of the Volvo Golf Champions.

Thanks to everyone who spotted it on the European Tour site (slightly cleaner video) and on YouTube thanks to GolfCentralDaily.

I love the announcers on the Euro Tour....

And does it make me a bad person if I'm NOT sad to see Dan Dierdorf go?
The end result is amazing for Charl. Superb strike.

That said a well struck shot off of a clean lie on a cart path with no forward impediemnts for a touring professional is not as difficult as it seems. The last couple of seasons on the PGA Tour alone, Phil at Doral (though not in the league of Charls miss) and Kevin Na at the TPC, have shown shots from a cart path can be successful. More shots have likely taken place given the total number of events/players/holes where television coverage was not available.

If one has a spare gap/lob/sand wedge to mess with try it. Serious spin can be obtained from a clean strike from a ball on a cart path/dirt lie regardless of ball type when hit properly. Pretty cool stuff. :)

not a surprise. I saw phil use a fairway wood to pick the ball off a cartpath. these guys can pick the ball off anything.

Neil Young- Oh I was thinking about how bad Dan Dierdorf was. Glad to see him gone, He is a horrible announcer. His call on the safety was kinda of idiotic.
