PGA Tour Suspends Policy Of Not Commenting On Suspensions

Appearing to compound the issues Dustin Johnson's leave of absence has raised, the PGA Tour has suspended their policy of not commenting on suspensions, possible suspensions or rumored suspensions.

Jason Sobel reports:

“With regard to media reports that Dustin Johnson has been suspended by the PGA Tour,” the statement read, “this is to clarify that Mr. Johnson has taken a voluntary leave of absence and is not under a suspension from the PGA Tour.”

Previously, the PGA Tour had only offered its long-standing policy of not commenting on potential punitive measures toward any members.

Technically, they haven't commented on a suspension because they are saying DJ was not suspended. Yet they have suspended their policy of not commenting on any kind of report suggesting a violation of tour policy and subsequent disciplinary action.

It's also quite possible he is "not under a suspension from the PGA Tour" but merely waiting to be suspended, or appealing a suspension.
