Away Clippings

I'm going to be traveling the next three days with limited time to read up on golf and probably not having access to a Wi-Fi signal. I'm not telling you where because it'll just make you mad, especially if you're sweating through your shorts in Tulsa.  Hint: I'm gladly packing a sweater and several sleeves of balls. But I'll be back Thursday night and if feeling frisky, I may even try a cool new form of live blogging over the weekend (a big if!).

In the meantime, if there are some stories (PGA or otherwise) you see that should not go unnoticed, please post the links under the comments section here and throw in a few comments if you'd like. (Don't post them as references, those are restricted for spam filtering purposes.)

Thanks!

Cant be Kohler, it is too hot and humid around here to need a sweater.

What about that new place in Seattle, Chambers Bay?

Have fun, Geoff. Don't feel guilty that you're robbing us all of precious help with our various procrastinations.

Probably not Chambers Bay. Tacoma will be 75 and sunny this time of the year. My money is on Bandon.

Only one that is close. Geoff, not playing much golf? Hope that you practiced your eight-iron and have a good 200 yard club to boot.

Sully,

Isn't it at least a 220 yard carry at CP?

It's 105 with the heat index here in the Pinehurst area today, and Geoff needs a sweater.

You, sir, are a magnificent bastard! I salute you!

Geoff--John Mcphee has penned a piece you will want to see in the New Yorker on the USGA and US Open at Oakmont...

Why o why doesnt the editor ring you up to do a piece there, I don't know

Today is Thursday the 9th, hints today that PGA Tour and Ryder Cup players are closer to drug testing, how will these independent contractors respond to their 4th Amendment Rights being supressed, especially with NO colective bargaining agreements to provide such an outcome?
08.9.2007 | Unregistered CommenterUncle Sam
The 4th amendment protects us against unreasonable search and seizure. By the government. It does not "protect" anybody from the rules set by an organiztion in which membership is voluntary.
Amen Martin. No one is being "forced" to obtain membership on the PGA Tour -- but if you want to be a member, please fill this cup.

I've just come from a zoo on a mountain in Wales, and guess what they had on offer - Sea Lions. But you only need a sweater at night. A nice 70 every day.

doesn't feel like a major w/o your snarky comments on Bobby Clampett, etc.!!
