Steiny: Tiger's Doral Status "Up in the air"

Bob Harig texts with Tiger agent Mark Steinberg who says Tiger is day to day with his WGC Cadillac Championship status "up in the air."

As far as WD's go, Alex Myers go back and looks at top players with a bunch of stars and Tiger's WD rate is pretty much in line with his peers.

We've seen Woods, 38, walk off mid-round a few times in recent years, including twice during final rounds. But does he withdraw from events at a higher frequency than most or do we just notice more when it's him pulling out? Overall, it was the sixth WD for Woods in 297 starts on the PGA Tour.

Doug Ferguson has a different take on those WD's, writing that Tiger "looks a tired 38" and noting that most of the WD's have come since the Escapade took that hard left turn out of the driveway.

The injuries are starting to pile up since he returned from the chaos in his personal life.

Woods had two WDs on his professional record through 2009. One was at Pebble Beach in 1998 when he chose not to return after a seven-month rain delay to finish. The other was in 2006 at Riviera when he made the cut and then withdrew the next morning with the flu.

Now he has four in the last five years.

One bit of possible inspiration for Tiger to play this week: he loses his OWGR status at No. 1 if he doesn't play and Adam Scott wins. Ryan Lavner explains.
