Ever wonder what goes through a PGA Tour Pros head during practice rounds leading up to tournament day? We went inside the ropes with Callaway Staffer Marc Leishman and mic'd him up during a practice round of the Northern Trust Open to find out how he prepares for tournament play.
A trip to Pebble Beach would not be complete without dreaming of seeing the old split-level 9th fairway re-created from Chandler Egan’s 1928 renovation of the course. A few photos from the 2018 @usamateur show the view from an original tee just off 8, superintendent Joe Mayo’s drawing, a vintage fairway view and shots today of the carry over the Pacific, the abandoned fairway and a clearly better angle to the difficult 9th green. History buffs will recognize this vital piece of travel art used to promote Del Monte and Pebble Beach in the 20s and 30s. Low and behold the original was brought into Golf Links To The Past last week, cleaned and is for sale now at Kip Orland’s great shop. The artist was Maurice Long, and after years of seeing this iconic image in postcards, it was amazing to see the unusual brushstrokes, amazingly well-preserved colors and other details on the original. Mr. Long painted the amazing cover to the best program I’ve ever seen: the 1929 US Amateur at Pebble Beach (last two images). Yet another cool way the 2018 @usamateur linked to the past this week! #golfhistory #golfart #mauricelong #pebblebeach #usamateur
It’s been a joy walking around Pebble Beach during the 2018 @usamateur. So much beauty and grandeur, but also still so much potential. You have one more day to walk the course for $25 and watch two players on their game, @devon_bling and @viktor_hovland First pic is of 373 yard Alternate 10th tee. #pebblebeachgolflinks #usamateur
