Doug Ferguson on Adam Scott's opening 62 at Firestone and post round claims that he hasn't followed the Tiger-fires-Stevie-for-disloyalty story. It sure sounds like the Greenbrier's chances of landing a future Presidents Cup have improved with their home-run of an operation and the obvious need for some kind of reward for becoming the Old White Guys TPC. Sean Martin, writing about why players enjoy the Greenbrier week so much, slips this in toward the end of his column:

Pazder said Justice has been a perfect partner with the Tour; his club joined the TPC network this year. Crowds for practice days were larger than some tournaments on Sundays. Volunteers welcomed guests with a smile and a greeting.
Tom Watson, the club’s pro emeritus, first saw the resort at the 1979 Ryder Cup. He left before the competition began for the birth of his daughter, Meg, but had fond memories.

Brad Klein is fascinated by the increased scrutiny of today's PGA Tour loopers, but just wishes there would be more attention paid to caddies.Doug Ferguson seizes on Tiger saying he has the itch to play again.
He said he started hitting balls a couple of weeks ago, without giving an exact date, and that he got the itch to start playing soon after. Woods said he thought about playing The Greenbrier Classic last week, but decided to wait a li
That Soltau did it again!
"Tiger asked me to work with him this week and I'm glad to do it," said Bell. "Although I have a busy schedule with Tiger Woods Design, it's fun to come out here again. We've had success on the course together before. I hope I'm a good asset for him while he searches for a permanent caddie, and I'm looking forward to Firestone."
Mike Hlas was at Zach Johnson's first foundation fundraiser Monday and the former Masters Champ sprung a shocker on the gathered attendees. The Today Show profiled the McDain's Restaurant and Golf Center to see how operator Mike Vuick's ban on kids under six is going and found the place busy.
Janet Shamlian files the report and finds other businesses following the McDain's lead. Finally a trend-setting golf facility!
