« Race To Dubai Purse Drops 25%; Anthony Kim Will Learn The News In Late 2011 | Main | "FartGate -- CBS Denies Tiger Supplied It" ** »

"A case of one (copyright) rule for some, another (copyright) rule for the rest?"

Since the Kenny Perry unintended-lie-improvement video remains on YouTube, Lawrence Donegan wonders why the PGA Tour and CBS keep taking down the final round Buick clip featuring a robust passing of gas, prompting an "Are you serious?" from Tiger Woods. Either way, TMZ.com has the clip for posterity.

Will Brinson thinks it's an iphone ifart sound, but I checked with an unnamed reader who has downloaded the app and he confirms that while it sounds similar to Dirty Raoul, Wind Bag, Jack The Ripper and The Sick Dog, it does not match any of the pre-loaded sounds that come with the app.

And of course if it were an ifart sound, why then we'd have a mobile device inside the ropes issue as well.

It sounded too loud (even if it was near the mic) and whoopie cushion-ish to be real. Funny reaction though from Tiger and Steve. I was surprised Feherty didn't chime in.

We're not expecting Feherty to be covering the Masters next year, are we?

It's Augusta wind that blows no good...

Of course there are mobile devices inside the ropes, the proof is in the twitpics. Also, bloggers who don't get credentials sneak in their iphones and tweet and upload twitpics during rounds. Happened a lot at Bethpage. Bloggers, or anyone, who smuggle in their phones when they know they are not allowed should be ashamed and demonstrate a failure to hold the game of golf and the integrity of a tournament in the proper reverence.

Someone posted elsewhere that the fart was real and actually from the boom mic operator. The source was someone who was right there following the group.

RM- "...should be ashamed and demonstrate a failure to hold the game of golf and the integrity of a tournament in the proper reverence".

Wow. Just a little over the top, maybe? Typing silently on a phone qwerty pad is irreverent and destroys the game's integrity? Are people allowed to talk and move during a tournament, or does that too take away from the reverence?

RM, you're a good guy and I've always dug your posts, but this seems a bit much IMO. I agree that phones shouldn't be at tournaments, only because there are the occasional knuckleheads who will not turn off the ringer, talk at inappropriate times, etc. I'd rather see immediate removals of "You the Man" guy and "Get in the Hole" off the tee of a par-4/5 guy. :)

Ultimately, I agree that phones should not be there. Reverence, integrity? I think that this is part of the problem with the game sometimes. We're putting the putter up on a pedestal. :)

Hit 'em straight.

Sorry, I don't agree. I'm starting to think that this is one of the new generation iPods with the iFart app plugged into really nice sounding portable Bose system!

Geoff didn't even mention The Brown Mosquito as being one of his favorites...

Personally it sounds like it may be more than just a fart to me. Was anyone nearby seen walking awkwardly after the shot fired around the world?
