Fatigue Of Extensive Overseas Schedule Catches Up To Casey Down BMW Stretch

If Paul Casey had only skipped those extra three European Tour events like Ryder Cup Captain's pick Padraig Harrington did, maybe he would have finished off the BMW Championship with a little more gusto?  I'm just speculating...

Incidentally, Casey did address the disparity in European Tour events played between himself and the men tabbed as stronger Euro Tour loyalists, a topic oddly glossed over by many U.K. writers who don't want to upset the best interview in golf, Sir Padraig.

From Lawrence Donegan in The Guardian:

In particular, attention will be focused on the decision to select Padraig Harrington over Casey, not least because he played fewer events in Europe this year than did the Englishman.

Those close to Casey are privately upset that he has been accused of not showing enough loyalty to the European Tour. "I know the facts,'' the player said this weekend. "I know how many I played in Europe compared to guys who were picked, so I'm not even going to get into that."

As for the loss, Casey was gracious in defeat. Bob Harig writing for ESPN.com:

After birdies at the 11th and 12th holes, Casey had a 3-shot lead. But then he made three straight bogeys to fall back into a tie with Johnson, whose 54-degree wedge shot to a few feet at the 17th hole set up the birdie that got it done.

"Congratulations to Dustin Johnson," Casey said. "He's gone through a lot the last month or so and he obviously played wonderful golf."
