Contrary To Reports, Ogilvy/Allenby "Stoush" Is Still A "Stoush" Until Otherwise Noted

Jim Tucker's inside sources said "repair work" was done following the Robert Allenby-Geoff Ogilvy kerfuffle threatening to make the Australian Masters wildy entertaining should we get the former teammates paired together. Of course, that would require Allenby to shave about six shots off of his current handicap to occur, but miracles do happen.

However, Martin Blake says this report was news to Ogilvy.

Despite reports over the weekend that the pair had talked since they had a heated argument in a restaurant-bar after the Australian PGA Championship a fortnight ago, Ogilvy said they had not spoken recently. "I haven't talked to Robert. He left a message on my phone, he wants to bury the hatchet, I think," he said.

They will get the opportunity over the next few days at Victoria Golf Club, and Ogilvy said he was not looking to pursue the matter. "I don’t have an issue with Robert. I have an issue with what he said."

He said he and Allenby were "pretty good friends" and he hoped they would continue to be.

Russell Gould reports that Ogilvy explains what it was about Allenby's comments that he found so troubling, and also feels a resolution to this conflict will come easily.

"It's a pretty good week the Presidents Cup, and anyone who has been in a team, you get very defensive of your team and when someone says something like that it is really disappointing.

"He's pretty happy to get on with it. He's still my mate. I've known him a long time."

Ogilvy said they would both be "professional" should they play together at this week's event.

"I think we'd work it out pretty quick," he said.

"It might be fun I think."
