News Of The Weird: Golf Clubs For Ecstasy Deal Gone Bad

Tip of the cap to Alan Bastable for finding this ain't-America-grand story of Chinese food deliverer Kristian Vail stealing Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bryant's golf clubs out of his garage before dropping off his order, only to get arrested because the choir boy he sold the clubs to wasn't too bright either.

Lynn Jeffries in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

Investigators found the clubs on the Internet using their serial numbers, Solis said. Vail had traded the clubs and golf bag to Michael Gibson, 22, for 80 Ecstasy pills, Solis said. Gibson, also of Flowery Branch, was arrested on Sept. 21 on felony theft by receiving charges.

Both men have posted $5,700 bond and have been released from the Gwinnett County Jail.

All but three of the clubs have been recovered, Solis said. A Midtown jazz club owner returned one club that he said he bought from Gibson for $120, according to Solis. He won't be charged.
One of Bryant's prized clubs -- a Scotty Cameron putter -- has yet to be recovered. "Matt Bryant wasn't too happy about that," said Solis.
