Guy Who Erected Dinosaurs: "I would prefer to have Peter Senior than Tiger Woods."

The dinosaur thing was cute as was the locking out of tournament officials on the eve of the tournament, but now resort owner Clive Palmer tells Brent Read in a wide-ranging and completely disastrous Q&A that even if he gets the Australian PGA back next year (he won't), Tiger would not be his first choice.

But at least he lays the groundwork for Tiger to entertain the idea….

"Tiger Woods isn't the No 1 golfer in the world any more," Palmer said. "We don't want to look backwards, we want to look forwards. So why would you get Tiger Woods here? I would prefer to have Peter Senior than Tiger Woods.

"I am sure Peter Senior could beat Tiger Woods on a good day. I am sure he could.

"Tiger Woods has improved a lot but he's an emotional wreck and he's not a good example for kids, anyway."

As for McIlroy, Palmer said: "If you rang him now he would probably tell you unless it's at Palmer Coolum Resort, I won't come.

"We can be sure he won't come if it goes somewhere else."

Besides, maybe Clive Palmer has daughters to worry about.

First year watching this on GC...was very entertaining and a picturesque course. The fairway art was certainly interesting.
Kind of a shame Mr. Palmer will be left with his T-Rex by the roadside..we need more characters.

Is amazing how many good golfers are from Australia, not a huge population to draw from. Some interesting owners there too I guess. I enjoyed the Aussie Masters and the Aussie PGA, except for the primary announcer...the "color" guy was pretty good though...but it is sort of like watching the Hooters/Nationwide/Web.com Tour with a few big names sprinkled in. Darren Clarke, Geoff Ogilvesby and another here or there...Allensby and Nick Hearn...they should probably be on the Web.com Tour. Well, life goes on and as it does, I wouldn't expect to see Tiger or Rory in Australia any time soon.

I tried to dvr/watch this event, but never got to see but a few minutes- a dramatic looking bluff is all I really saw of note.

I am not a fan of the Aussie announcers, including IBF, although I have an IBF Rife putter, and really like it,

I really wanted to see the T-Rex. It's not like they put it in the road hole bunker. It's just a golf course.

On one hand we diss the snobs running the show, and then when someone breaks out of the mold some of you cannot fathom a golfer trying to have a little fun.

Sad when Tiger is not even trying to play in the tournament. Palmer knows it's always good to mention Tiger in the conversation since it gets a lot of publicity. Tiger has gotten used to this by now so 'm sure it will be like water running off the back of a duck. Go Tiger. Let them continue to be obsessed with your life instead of their own.. So what else is new?

I liked the announcers at the Aussie Masters but the last 2 tournaments weren't very good (IBF is awful)...made me miss Nantz which is always a bad sign.

australian tour struggles with two things: keeping accomplished pros playing their events and corresponding lack of sponsorship dollars...

i think those grapes he's sitting on are sour...in the end it seems like he's just patting the dirt down over his head....lol
