Forget The Tiger-Visiting-Lindsey-Vonn-In-Salzburg-Business, What's With The Yankees Cap?

If you are really bored you can translate this Salzburger Nachrichten story (with photos) of Tiger Woods arriving in Salzburg Sunday to (A) visit Mozart's birthplace (B) continue his ongoing tour to visit all of the filming locations for The Sound of Music or (C) visit the sister of his kids' ski instructor and Olympic skiier, Lindsey Vonn.

All of the explanations work for me. I guess you could throw in the beautiful weather this time of year, too.

What doesn't work, as a Dodgers fan who was under the impression that Tiger was a devoted Dodgerphile, is the Yankees cap.

@dtf/brianS a study of the tabs was done in the last couple years which looked at their accuracy, I believe the enquirer was around 25%, it's possible it's true, but not probable. Their are probably elements that are true

@pete gossip and I have a love-hate relationship. I think there are more and less appropriate places and times. I have a big problem with treating gossip as fact and/or news. And Fox News running an enquirer sources story bugs me a lot. As a general rule, I think we have gotten sloppy about using common sense and fact checking. But, I'm female, I engage in occasional gossip :p

I just managed to flick through The National Enquirer and there are no headlines regarding Tiger Woods. Just checked their website, and no story there either - although they are just breaking that Erin Moran is a lesbian.

I did get a sense that "DTF and the Slurpers" were getting excited about this one. But I think you and the The Daily Mail were getting your chains yanked.

LOL. Simply asked elf if she thought the story had any merit, i didn't render an opinion one way or another other than finding it bizarre, still do. Especially so since a number of credible media outlets have now run with the story citing Enquirer as the source.

Personally I'm not the least bit fixated with Tiger's off course activities but you sure seem to be, and extremely so. Find that bizarre too. Keep on checking around out there and report back if you find anything newsworthy. Hey, that you MM? Sure sounds like you. Anger levels match. Pet phrase matches... Did you see my Happy New Year wishes a couple weeks ago ;)

As for the golf, anyone watch last night? Tiger and Rory both looked pretty weak. Something about the 2nd shot on 18 does not suit Rory's eye. Last year he hit it on top of the grandstand and ultimately lost the ball, last night he hit a screaming low snap hook that ended up left and long of same pavilion (his 9th hole) Rory was in bunkers the first 3 holes, doubled a par 3 without a penalty shot, and hit a tee shot OB on the back 9 for another double.

Tiger wasnt any better. He had to make a 20 footer for par on his opening hole, a par 5. He managed to turn 2-under and promptly laid the sod over a driver, a driver! (his 10th hole) It was a driver-SW hole and Tiger had to hit a 5-wood from the rough and came up short. Earlier he hit a 3-wood off the tee into a bush, etc...

Tiger and Rory are 5 back and 8 back respectively after round 1.

However, they were both dressed very nicely, their Nike gear looked way better than Kaymer's getup by Boss! They also had a good chat and laugh together as they went around, these two clearly enjoy each others company.
