Forget The Tiger-Visiting-Lindsey-Vonn-In-Salzburg-Business, What's With The Yankees Cap?

If you are really bored you can translate this Salzburger Nachrichten story (with photos) of Tiger Woods arriving in Salzburg Sunday to (A) visit Mozart's birthplace (B) continue his ongoing tour to visit all of the filming locations for The Sound of Music or (C) visit the sister of his kids' ski instructor and Olympic skiier, Lindsey Vonn.

All of the explanations work for me. I guess you could throw in the beautiful weather this time of year, too.

What doesn't work, as a Dodgers fan who was under the impression that Tiger was a devoted Dodgerphile, is the Yankees cap.

Wow...Lindsey looks like a man...what's with the short haircut?

He "follows" the Yankees on twitter too #jeter

The man certainly tries not to veer from his type. He loves him some blondes.

Even Tom Brady's been seen in a Yanks hat, they think it gives them street cred I guess, #yankeessuck

It's very simple. Tiger is striving to be like the Yankees and win the most majors. Winners follow winners.

The guy next to the Tiger is his bodyguard, will protect him if, by any chance, Lindsey Vonn will jump on him, never know
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterFila
Gus, if he wanted to win the most Majors he should've followed Jeter's lead in regard to the ladies ;)

Greatest women's ski racer in history, according to Outside Magazine. So she "one-ups" Tiger in the history books.
I don't think we want to revisit Derek Jeter and Tiger, do we?

Obviously trying to one up Rory by grabbing another hot female primo athlete. This rivalry is already better than Tiger/Phil !

I think we have a winner...

Nice. Got to practice my German, too. Looks like I'm up to about a 36 handicap with that.

Very nice picture of Ms. Vonn from Del, but she clearly has not had the necessary work done. Yet.

The ink is not yet dry on her divorce. He's not wasting any time.

Check Outside Magazine's cover this month http://www dot outsideonline dot com/magazine/Outside-Magazine-February-2013.html

I would comment, but wouldn't want to sound like Brent Musburger and force an apology from this site.
She fits the Tiger type in terms of looks. I am guessing she is a major upgrade over previous collection of conquests.

Hopefully he doesn't ruin it with a dream where Derek Jeter, David Boreanaz & ... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/04/tiger-woods-dream-derek-j_n_380697.html

From Time Magazine -

Vonn, a 28-year-old champion skier and Olympic gold medalist, has just gone through a divorce. Vonn made Tiger-related headlines back in 2010 on the day of his nationally televised public apology. Here's what she said, as reported by Time.com:

And like millions of Americans, Vonn can't help poking fun at Woods' staged event. When a member of her Vonn-tourage tells her that Woods gave a few friends hugs after ending his statement, she cracks, "They're like, 'Yeah, you're awesome, you go have that sex.' " The room breaks into a laugh. Then she describes a skit she would want to perform if asked to host Saturday Night Live: picture Vonn at Woods' podium, blue backdrop and all. "There's something you don't know about me," Vonn says in a faux solemn, apologetic voice. "Tiger, you're like my idol, and I too have a sex problem." More laughter. "That would be freaking funny."

elf, could there be any truth to that article? Bizarre.
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterDTF
@dtf given that the reporting source is the national enquirer the odds are against it. I just found the timing amusing/bizarre
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterElf
@Elf - don't forget, it was the "journalists" at the Enquirer that set the whole Tiger sex scandal into motion - so don't write them off !
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterBrianS
Fantastic! I just revised my original 2013 prediction of three wins, including a major to five wins and two majors! Good for him. Go for the gold!
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterDanny Boy
The Enquirer also broke the John Edwards story which the mainstream press resolutely ignored for months, and 100% of what the Enquirer reported turned out to be true.
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterDTF
Wow, Elf I am absolutely amazed. I thought you were so opposed to the petty gossip and instead we are finding out you are like a kid in a candy store all excited with the garbage. A bit hypocritical, no??
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterPete North
@dtf/brianS a study of the tabs was done in the last couple years which looked at their accuracy, I believe the enquirer was around 25%, it's possible it's true, but not probable. Their are probably elements that are true

@pete gossip and I have a love-hate relationship. I think there are more and less appropriate places and times. I have a big problem with treating gossip as fact and/or news. And Fox News running an enquirer sources story bugs me a lot. As a general rule, I think we have gotten sloppy about using common sense and fact checking. But, I'm female, I engage in occasional gossip :p
01.16.2013 | Unregistered CommenterElf
I just managed to flick through The National Enquirer and there are no headlines regarding Tiger Woods. Just checked their website, and no story there either - although they are just breaking that Erin Moran is a lesbian.

I did get a sense that "DTF and the Slurpers" were getting excited about this one. But I think you and the The Daily Mail were getting your chains yanked.

Looks like Tiggly Wiggly will be making a pit stop in the Alps on the way to Torrey after all.
Steiney's interns at Excel Sports might be planting some misinformation because of the growing interest in the Lindsey Vonn angle.

Hey there Mr. Right Track, since yesterday, The National Enquirer has added stories on Brintney Spears, some chick from The Bachelor, Jessica Simpson, Betty White and John Travolta.

Still no Tiger story.

Hook, line and sinker. Looks good on ya.

LOL. Simply asked elf if she thought the story had any merit, i didn't render an opinion one way or another other than finding it bizarre, still do. Especially so since a number of credible media outlets have now run with the story citing Enquirer as the source.

Personally I'm not the least bit fixated with Tiger's off course activities but you sure seem to be, and extremely so. Find that bizarre too. Keep on checking around out there and report back if you find anything newsworthy. Hey, that you MM? Sure sounds like you. Anger levels match. Pet phrase matches... Did you see my Happy New Year wishes a couple weeks ago ;)

As for the golf, anyone watch last night? Tiger and Rory both looked pretty weak. Something about the 2nd shot on 18 does not suit Rory's eye. Last year he hit it on top of the grandstand and ultimately lost the ball, last night he hit a screaming low snap hook that ended up left and long of same pavilion (his 9th hole) Rory was in bunkers the first 3 holes, doubled a par 3 without a penalty shot, and hit a tee shot OB on the back 9 for another double.

Tiger wasnt any better. He had to make a 20 footer for par on his opening hole, a par 5. He managed to turn 2-under and promptly laid the sod over a driver, a driver! (his 10th hole) It was a driver-SW hole and Tiger had to hit a 5-wood from the rough and came up short. Earlier he hit a 3-wood off the tee into a bush, etc...

Tiger and Rory are 5 back and 8 back respectively after round 1.

However, they were both dressed very nicely, their Nike gear looked way better than Kaymer's getup by Boss! They also had a good chat and laugh together as they went around, these two clearly enjoy each others company.
