Euro Tour Hands Out Another Slow Play Penalty

Thanks to reader Matthew for the alert.

It seems that while Dawie Van Der Walt won the European Tour's Tshwane Open last Sunday, second and third round co-leader Charl Coetzee received a one-shot penalty for slow play on the 15th hole during final round play.

At least they're trying. This is not the first time in the last year the tour has tried to offer some incentive to play faster.

Tim Finchem sited slow play as one of the issues more important than anchoring of putters. He should take a page from the European Tour and start hitting some of the turtle slow members of his tour. Slow play at the amature level is just mirroring what the average guy sees on TV every weekend. The last time a PGA Tour player was fined for slow play was 1993!! HAVE YOUR PLAYERS SET THE EXAMPLE TIM!! That IS more important than anchoring!
