Video Surfaces Of Phil, Rory's Painful Baton-Twirling Nightmare

Bernie McGuire posted this video of the agonzing baton-twirling session featuring Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson and it's just so much worse than the images displayed.

Phil and Rory get big points though for being good sports and for sporting expressions on their face which scream either extreme constipation or post waterboarding agony.

The video:

And in this Golfing World video has some nice close-ups of the facial expressions.

OMG… talk about awkward moments and feeling obligated considering payment for services rendered … I felt like they needed a shower after watching that.

Seems Phil "quite fancies a dance." Yikes.

Why is this being posted? What purpose dose it serve? Do we need to embarrass just for the fun of it?

Agent Steve Loy drops a contract in front of Phil.

"Okay, Lefty, there's two million in it for you just to show up. And of course, there's prize money too."

Mickelson: "Sounds good. Gonna be a great week."

Loy: "Well, I need to tell you about the fine print."

Mickelson: "Huh?

Loy: "Well, these Middle Easterners have some oddball ways of promoting their tournament. The catch is you'll need to show up early in the week and have to dance next to Rory while twirling a golf club. Oh, and there will be some guy in front of the stage making sure you're synched up like the Rocketts. But Phil, remember: Two Million Dollars!"

Mickelson: "I don't remember Tiger having to do this. And he gets three. Count me in."

Dancing Monkeys for $2 million!

Who is more enviable? Phil and Rory? Or the entity possessing the leverage to make world class golfers act out scenes from Cirque de Soleil?

Tiger got stuck doing the same stuff last year - I think the pic was him and Rory banging on mini bongo drums on the same stage, with the same dance troupe surrounding.
01.15.2014 | Unregistered CommenterBrianS
Yeah, but they didn't have to dance last year. How happy is Tiger right now that he's playing Dubai instead? (but that would've been priceless)

Ben "these middle easterners" are actually gulf arabs. Nothing middle about them! When the Euro Tour signs up Syria, Lebanon, Israel or Israel then you got a case.

That is one of the funniest things I've seen. I did actually Laugh Out Loud. LOL.

Even with the dark haired beauties hair twirling, I just could not watch. The music was AWFUL.

These guys pass up the opportunity to chill at the Ritz @ Kapalua and Kahala @ Diamondhead...to do this...I guess you can never be too rich or too thin!
01.15.2014 | Unregistered CommenterManku
I'd do this for 2 million.. where do I sign up?!

Golf whores abound!

@ Amen Corner - I think Ben was doing a caricature of Loy - not speaking in his own voice.

This video will soon disappear. But the $2 million is a gift that will keep on giving.

You find this interesting? Really, Geoff? It's been going on for FIVE YEARS now. Only one that was worth posting was Phil and Tiger playing Chinese Checkers (remember?) and the photographers moved in for the corporate shoot and Phil suddenly threw his hands up to show that he won. Otherwise, wake me when the tournament starts or the check clears. zzzzzz.

Where to start?

At least when Uncle Jed struck oil, he trucked in Flatt and Scruggs for entertainment.

I guess the promoter told em he'll cut them their 7 figure tee-up money cheques......after that weird twirling exhibition.

Painful to watch....but the synchronized club swinging was funny.
