Exclusive: Brandel Chamblee Joins Tiger's Team For Masters

In an ongoing effort to smooth things over following last year's golf.com column suggesting Tiger Woods had been "cavalier" with the rules, Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee has agreed to join Tiger's physical rehabilitation team during Masters week.

Chamblee's "physio" duties will include deep tissue massage and perhaps even walking on Tiger's back after rounds should the four-time champion's recent flexion issues persist.

"I will be able to juggle my Live From duties with whatever he needs me to do to help his back. I'm also hoping I'll get a few opportunities to whisper in his ear about anything I see him doing wrong with his swing, which is pretty much everything."

Chamblee will shuttle between the Golf Channel set near the Tournament Practice Area and Tiger's rented home in the West Lake Country Club neighborhood, catching a ride in the front seat of a sheriff escort vehicle assigned to Woods for drives to and from Augusta National. The ride will allow Chamblee to arrive just ahead of Woods to run into the rented home to "warm up my massage oils and light scented candles in a special physio room" designed to tend to Tiger's needs.

As for a ride back to the Live From set after giving Tiger massages?

"I'll get that sorted out but I'm pretty sure Sean Foley won't be an option," Chamblee said when contacted via email.

Golf Channel Executive Producer Molly Solomon says that while the situation is an unusual one, the arrangement could smooth any tensions between Woods and Golf Channel.

"This will allow Brandel to literally flesh out his post round criticisms of Woods, and we believe it shows Tiger that our people are willing to bend over backwards, again, maybe literally, to get back in his good graces. We look forward to many years of Tiger agreeing to join us for post round interviews," Solomon said.

In other Golf Channel personality news, Solomon declined to confirm the accuracy of social media reports that Morning Drive anchor Gary Williams had renounced the wearing of all sweaters going forward.
