When one comes to the quality of the bunkers and other hazards we pass into realm of much dispute and argument. Primarily bunkers should be sand bunkers purely, not composed of gravel, stones or dirt. Superb work by writer and architect Josh Pettit to uncover the never before seen Alister MacKenzie plan for an 18-hole short course featuring nine double greens for Augusta National.

In this week's Golf World, Pettit explains how he found the plan in the Olmsted collection and what it all means.
