When one comes to the quality of the bunkers and other hazards we pass into realm of much dispute and argument. Primarily bunkers should be sand bunkers purely, not composed of gravel, stones or dirt. Knighthood Awaits Peter Dawson?!

I'm not sure what was more disturbing in Alistair Tait's ode to Peter Dawson, retiring R&A Chief Executive. The suggestion that "a knighthood awaits" for a man who pushed through changes to the most storied course on the planet with a Friday news dump, or this comment from an R&A staffer about Dawson's replacement.

From Tait's story:

“There are no whispers from members about who’s going to replace Peter,” said one R&A committee member who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “The only thing everyone I’ve spoken to agrees is, it won’t be an internal appointment. The feeling from many members is, it will be someone with a business background and not a golf background, someone no one has really heard of.”
