It's Back! PGA Centenary At Gleneagles Lands Solheim Cup

Because it wasn't banal enough in hosting the 2014 Ryder Cup, the Home of Golf will once again be represented by a modern, many-times renovated Jack Nicklaus course when the 2019 Solheim Cup arrives.

I understand the highest bidder wins these things, but, ah forget it. Martin Dempster with the details of Scotland beating out Sweden, including this.

“I am excited that the Solheim Cup will be returning to Scotland, home of Europe’s first win,” said John A. Solheim, PING chairman and CEO.

“Gleneagles is certainly one of the great venues in golf and will provide a wonderful experience for all. I’m sure that the members of the 2019 Solheim Cup teams will be up to meeting the challenges of this exceptional golf course.”

Eight-times Solheim Cup player Catriona Matthew would seem an obvious choice as European captain for the 2019 event.

So at least there is that. Though wouldn't it have been epic if they played Catriona's home course, North Berwick?
