Woods Shoots 63! Cheyenne That Is...

While her uncle Tiger was spraying it around Muirfield Village in 73 and implementing yet more swing changes, niece Cheyenne Woods posted a Whistle Bear Golf Club course-record tying 63 in the Manulife LPGA Classic.

The round is even more incredible considering Cheyenne has missed her last five cuts and never finished higher than T23 in her few LPGA starts.

Even better, she was statistically superior (Hennessey at GolfDigest.com with her best stats), hitting 14 of 14 fairways (Tiger hit four at Muirfield Village), her driving distance average for the round was 276 (286.3 for Tiger in round 1 at the Memorial) and she made eight birdies, one eagle (five birdies for Tiger).

Highlights and interview from her round:

As for her uncle, Dave Shedloski says it could have been a lot worse for Tiger. But Woods suggested he was "mentally beat up" despite "fighting" to post his 73.

From Steve DiMeglio's USA Today account that also mentions a 75 minute practice session after the round. And this on his swing issues.

"It's the pattern we work on; we're trying to change it. It's kind of what you have to go through," Woods said. "And unfortunately, I can hit it either way, because of this move we're working on. But it's so much more flush, and so much more solid and a lot easier on my body, when I seem to do it right."
