Happy National Golf Day: Golf Tax Deductions For Everyone?

The annual visit by golf's suits to the Capitol has a more defined purpose today, May 18. Besides the talk of $70 billion in economic activity, how to form killer acronyms and maybe even share some findings from golf's millennial task force meetings, there is a bill the golf world would like to see passed.

Mike Johnson reports for GolfDigest.com that the inactivity of too many Americans has led to the PHIT Act incentivizing folks to write-off sports activities as part of medical expenses.

Because if the PHIT Act passes as currently constituted it would, along with several other physical-fitness expenses, make golf camps and clinics, lessons and training aids, green fees and driving-range fees, tournament fees and, wait for it . . . golf balls and golf clubs tax deductible up to $1,000 for an individual or $2,000 for a head of household or family.

Johnson says support is low right now, after golf's suits wow them with stacks, anything is possible.
