They're Playing Pro Golf At The Rio Olympic Course And It Looks A Lot Better Than Abandoned!

Declared abandoned, in disrepair, unsustainable and many other things thanks to its rustic appearance or lack of suitable activity in one opponent's eyes, the Rio Olympic golf course hosts the PGA Tour Latinoamerica this week.

The 64th playing of the Aberto do Brasil is the 13th of 18 PGA Tour Latinoamerica events and includes several intriguing players, including the world's top-ranked amateur last year, Joaquin Niemann.

The list of past champions includes Sam Snead, Billy Casper, Gary Player, Raymond Floyd, Hale Irwin Roberto De Vicenzo.

Players have been Tweeting, including these from Tee-k Kelly (thanks Jeremy Schilling for spotting):

They're still trying to drive near the 9th green and the condos are completed:

And the wildlife is still sensational:

Of course, not a single comment from the usual suspects who declared the course was a disaster, as well as Stephen Wade of the Associated Press! Good for Rio!

I have to say, the owls are beautiful, but it interesting to note that the herd of capivaras is a bunch of the worlds largest rodents, making NewYork rats look like insects.

I am glad the course is surviving, although I still strongly question the whole Olympiic schtick, amounting to someone making a lot of money at the expense of many. It never ends.

May the course prosper. Modern Olympics is a sham that has been allowed to operate/fleece for far too long.

So Rio Olympic golf was a success from beginning to end, and then afterward. Kudos to the players who participated in spite of Zika virus fears and local Rio crime threats, and kudos to the course superintendent and Gil Hanse.

Great to see.

As we speak and to the disappointment of cynical naysayers, undernourished at poverty-stricken waifs from the barios are flooding to the Rio layout, discovering and pursuing the dreams touted by we pro-Olympics people. Millions around the globe have at last been exposed to golf and will spark an explosion in the game worldwide.
