Just 13 Years Ago: When Arnie Hit Driver Into 18

At the time those watching knew it was a special moment, but seeing Arnold Palmer's last shot in the API sums up the essence of the man as much as any shot he struck.

H/T Alex Myers for posting and nice work by PGA Tour Entertainment to put it out on the PGA Tour Champions account. Sam Saunders, who is on the bag, will hit the opening tee shot Thursday and is paired over the opening two rounds with Brandt Snedeker and Rory McIlroy.

I remember it so well...not a replay but I made a point of having some TV time. Arnie put it on the green.

Of all the people I would loved to have met in my life only Arnold Palmer and Burt Lancaster would do.

Ye gods! I met him once and was stunned, when we were shaking hands, how soft his hand was. No calluses ... just soft and firm. Remarkable.

i never met Burt, but WOW- what a presence! ''Give me my hundred bucks!''-- The Rainmaker

Arnie, Ann Richards, Willie Nelson- true charisma- electricity around them- almost a visible aura.

I don't understand the tour players that criticize Bay Hill. It's a great golf course in so many ways.

Since this morning I have watched this video five or six times. Makes me smile every time! I just keep expecting the ball to roll closer to the hole with each viewing.

Joel, (some) tour players would complain about Cypress Point...not long enough, two par-3 holes in a row with one of them too long, trees right in the middle of the fairway on the 17th, too much sand on the front nine, puny practice range, club house too small.
