Sifford Exemption Follow-Up

From the Northern Trust's Kelly Mannard, commenting on the Sifford Exemption name change:

Last year Dr. Sifford graciously allowed Northern Trust to honor the 40th anniversary of his Northern Trust Open victory and dedicate the exemption in his name. Going forward he wanted to ensure the award was inclusive of all players of color. So the actual exemption is named the Northern Trust Open exemption.

Again, here's last year's PGATour.com release from last year:

Nearly 50 years after Charlie Sifford became the first black man to join the PGA TOUR, the Northern Trust Open announced Monday an exemption in his name for a player who represents the advancement of diversity in golf.

The annual "Charlie Sifford Exemption" will be recognized Feb. 18, the day before the tournament begins at Riviera Country Club.

It seems to me that "the advancement of diversity" and "annual" made it pretty clear this was an exemption that could go to any minority and done under Sifford's name.
