"Cassoff putts with his driver."

Don't miss Ron Green Jr.'s look at the unorthodox professional golfer Geordie Cassoff.

It wasn't just because of the bright orange towel he carried everywhere he went or his left-handed slash of a golf swing that has a slightly homemade look to it as he wrenches the club back then rips down through the ball.

And it wasn't just because Cassoff played the tournament - he missed the 36-hole cut - with only six clubs in his bag, though that was eight fewer than the rules allow.

What really set Cassoff apart was his putter.

He didn't have one.

Cassoff putts with his driver. A 45-inch, 9.5-degree titanium-headed, graphite-shafted Titleist driver. The same one he hits most of his tee shots with.

Ask Cassoff what led him to abandon more conventional putting implements and you know the answer before he tells you.

"I got the yips," says Cassoff, who did not play on the Furman golf team.
