2010 U.S. Open Fourth Question: Your Agronomic Impressions

Having been fortunate enough to be there, I have my take on Pebble Beach as presented by superintendent Chris Dalhammer: quite good considering the hand he's dealt and very much in line with past Opens.

However, I've been getting all sorts of emails suggesting a range of reactions to what folks saw on TV and few of them are positive. While I wonder if HD actually backfired in a sense by exposing too many blemishes, I still am curious about some of the comments I've heard.  A sampling of a few of them:

-Greens too firm for their architecture

-Greens looked dead

-Greens horribly bumpy

-Course condition overall underwhelming

My lone issue with the course was in the approaches and their incredible firmness, which I'd chalk up in part to the lousy soil that Pebble Beach is built on.

But I'm curious how the course came across to television viewers. Thoughts?
