When one comes to the quality of the bunkers and other hazards we pass into realm of much dispute and argument. Primarily bunkers should be sand bunkers purely, not composed of gravel, stones or dirt. Jill Painter on Jerry West's latest efforts to lure top players to the Northern Trust Open, which already has an improved field thanks to a move back to its pre-WGC Match Play date. On his time with Tiger at the Chevron:

"We didn't talk about it," West said of Woods' status for the NTO. "I just wished him well. I told him, 'I'd love to see you get your No. 1 position back. You're a genius. Go find that confidence you had.' He knows I want him to play. "

On dealing with the competing All-Star Weekend at Staples Center:

He secured two suites at Staples for golfers who want to go to the game after the final round. He's using that caveat and his personal Lakers tickets to help lure players to the event. Players will also have the opportunity to go to the dunk contest and All-Star week activities.
